Sustainable Tourismis designed as an introductory course for students who are presently working in the hospitality and tourism industry or who have interest in doing so in the near future. It introduces students to the optimum use of natural, cultural, social and financial resources for the development of tourism on an equitable and self-sustaining basis.
This course discusses Sustainable Tourism in the Caribbean.
NOTE: This course was produced by the University of West Indies Open Campus for the Caribbean Tourist Organization. The content of this course is similar to the content presented in Tourism 002 - Sustainable Tourism, but with emphasis on the Caribbean tourist sector. The formating also reflects the UWI Learning Exchange environment.
This course will begin the process of educating individuals who wish to pursue a career in agriculture. All agriculture professionals, be it farmers, wholesalers, distributors and providers of technology must have a basic grounding in the different topics that impact the ability to produce and distribute agricultural products.
As the first course in a series of agriculture courses you will be introduced to the concepts underlying agriculture production: soil, climate and biology. It examines differnt agricultural systems and examines the impact of the agricultural sector on the economic success of small states.
This is the second course in a series of agricultural courses to support the growth of agriculture in Small States. The Sustainable Agriculture in Small States course will help prepare you to perform as a working professional in the agriculture sector within your local community.
